Defeating the lowly Houston Rockets is one thing.
Picking up victories at Golden State and New Orleans would leave the Portland Trail Blazers in a good sport before starting a six-game trip Friday in Atlanta.
The Blazers used a monumental 71-point performance from Damian Lillard to take down the Rockets (13-47) on Sunday night at the Moda Center. The Blazers next play Tuesday night at Golden State (31-30) before hosting the Pelicans (30-31) on Wednesday night. Victories over both opponents would give the Blazers key wins over two teams in contention for a playoff berth and push them to .500.
First up is the seventh-place Warriors who will be without Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins. That more than makes up for Portland being short Jusuf Nurkic and Anferee Simons.
The Warriors have won two consecutive games thanks mainly to the resurgence of Klay Thompson, who had 74 points over the team’s last two games and has averaged 25.7 points per game in February.
He scored 31 at Portland during a 125-122 loss on Feb. 8 in a game that saw Lillard score 38.
The Blazers will enter Tuesday in 11th place in the West. New Orleans is in 10th.
