The Portland Trail Blazers’ NBA season began so promisingly for the Portland Trail Blazers with a 115-108 victory at the Sacramento Kings on opening night in October.
More than four months later, the Blazers begin the final stretch of the season post All-Star break also at Sacramento. Things haven’t gone so well for Portland in the interim.
The Blazers (28-30) used that opening-night win as a launching pad to a 9-3 start. The season peaked right there and they have not been able to rediscover that same magic.
On the other side, the Kings(32-25) have been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA and sit in third place in the Western Conference.
This game can only happen, however, if the Blazers are able to make the flight to Sacramento. Their scheduled flight for Wednesday afternoon was cancelled. They hoped to leave Thursday morning but had yet to take off as of 1 p.m.
