The Portland police officer who was fired and then reinstated after leaking news of a traffic complaint falsely implicating then-Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty in a hit-and-run received paid medical leave from the city while also moonlighting as a sheriff’s deputy in Clark County.
Brian Hunzeker requested and was placed on leave from the Portland Police Bureau effective April 3, barely a month after his Feb. 27 return to the force, according to records and city officials.
He resigned from the police bureau last week, hours after Willamette Week informed the city attorney’s office about his second job as a Washington sheriff’s deputy.
