Police identified the woman killed earlier this month near Corbett in what officials called a domestic violence shooting as Heather Lynn Booker Briscoe, 47.
Her husband, 47-year-old Brandon Lewis Briscoe, remains in the Multnomah County Detention Center on a charge of second-degree murder connected to the shooting, police said Monday.
Multnomah County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at 4:50 p.m. on June 3. Witnesses told deputies they heard five gunshots inside a recreational vehicle at 37000 East Historic Columbia River Highway, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Witnesses told police they saw a man walking out of the RV with a handgun, and that he told someone passing by that he had just shot his wife, the affidavit said.
The man walked away to a nearby fire station and fired another shot, the document said.
Deputies found a man matching the shooter’s description sitting in the parking lot of the fire station. The man, identified as Briscoe, allegedly told deputies that he “shot her multiple times,” the affidavit said.
Officials found Heather Briscoe dead inside the RV. A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide, recovering three .45 caliber bullets from her body, the affidavit said.
Brandon Briscoe was convicted of felony burglary in 1998.
He will be arraigned Tuesday morning, court records show.
