Michael Norman and Champion Allison will represent the United States in the men’s 400-meter final at the World Athletics Championships.
Both Norman and Allison claimed the top spot in their respective heats in the semifinals at Hayward Field to advance to Friday’s final.
Norman recorded the best time of the semifinals, crossing the line in the first heat in 44.30 seconds. Great Britian’s Matthew Hudson-Smith also qualified with a time of 44.38 seconds, along with Christoper Taylor of Jamaica at 44.97 seconds.
Allison finished with a sharp time of 44.71 in the third heat. South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk will join him Friday after posting a time of 44.75 seconds, along with Barbados’ Jonathan Jones, who posted a time of 44.78.
The other two runners to qualify are Grenada’s Kirani James (44.74) and Botswana’s Bayapo Ndori (44.94) from heat 2.
