In case you had any doubts, “Barbie”-mania is officially everywhere, as Monday’s episode of “The Bachelorette” also gets in on the trend as Charity Lawson takes some of the guys on a group date inspired by “Barbie,” the movie that opens July 21.
(How to watch: “The Bachelorette” Season 20 Episode 3 premieres at 9 p.m. Monday, July 10, on ABC. No cable or antenna? You can live stream the show on Fubo, which offers a free trial. After it airs, you can also watch the episode streaming on demand.)
The Season 20, Episode 3 July 10 outing of “The Bachelorette” finds this season’s star, Charity Lawson, again putting the remaining single men through their paces. If some have already seemed to be demonstrating a certain — well, let’s call it potential ickiness — Charity at least seems to have enough sense to know who’s a dud, and who’s a keeper.
Tonight’s episode promises, according to the ABC description, this bunch of stuff: “Charity and the suitors enjoy some fun in the sun and on the baseball diamond, but things take a turn when she discovers that one of the men may be getting jealous. Will Charity rescind a rose tonight on ‘The Bachelorette?’”
And are we out of line for hoping one of the guys headed for the exit might be that fellow who insists on wearing earrings that are gaudier than anything any of the women on “The Bachelor” franchise have ever worn?
OK, maybe that’s just me. Now, what’s all this about a date inspired by “Barbie”? We’ll have to wait for more details about that. Again, the ABC folks aren’t spilling much tea, with this vague episode description: “It’s time to leave the mansion behind! This high-stakes week on the road includes two make-or-break one-on-one dates and a group date inspired by Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film, ‘Barbie.’”
If nothing else, let’s hope this week’s “The Bachelorette” installment won’t involve any more attempts to break the “Bachelor” record for longest kiss, last week’s squim-worthy spectacle.
“The Bachelorette” Season 20, Episode 3, airs at 9 p.m. Monday, July 10, on ABC.
