After last week’s Season 20 premiere, “The Bachelorette” continues this week, with Charity Lawson embarking on what the show invariably calls her “journey” to “find love.”
(How to watch: “The Bachelorette” Season 20 Episode 2 premieres at 9 p.m. Monday, July 3, on ABC. No cable or antenna? You can live stream the show on Fubo, which offers a free trial. After it airs, you can also watch the episode streaming on demand.
How’s it going so far? Well, the season premiere introduced Charity — and us — to a passel of guys, not all of whom made the initial cut, as per usual. But in a fairly uncommon development, it looked like it was raining cats and dogs at the mansion, so at least there was a little variety.
Oh, and the other twist was that Charity’s older brother, Nehemiah, showed up to pose undercover as a bartender, so he could keep an eye on the bachelors and caution Charity about any dudes who seemed like bad news. Nehemiah went about this task by donning a wig and fake mustache it looked like he fished out of a recycling bin on the day after Halloween.
Despite Nehemiah warning Charity that Brayden was coming off a bit cocky — and the editors trying to make viewers think Brayden was in trouble — Charity decided he was a trustworthy guy, and she rewarded him with the First Impression Rose.
Was that a good idea, or a big mistake? We’ll have to wait and see. In Episode 2, here’s what the episode synopsis says is going to happen: “With her suitors moved into the mansion, Charity and one lucky man kick things off with a tour of Tinseltown, featuring a stop at the iconic Hollywood sign and a performance from Lauren Alaina. Then, the fourth annual ‘dodge bowl’ competition begins, commentated by Jesse Palmer and guest Liz Habib, with coveted time rewarded to the winning team at the afterparty. Later, with the help of former Bachelorettes Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey, Charity’s dates are given a chance to help her break a Bachelor Nation record. After drama bubbles up during a BBQ at the mansion, Charity begins to question one man’s intentions.”
Uh, oh. These Bachelor Nation concerts are usually pretty snoozy, and don’t Rachel and Gabby have better things to do?
