The Old Fashioned is an ideal cocktail for sipping fireside all through the holiday season. This take on the classic spec, created by Sam Nelis of Barr Hill, swaps out the typical bourbon in favor of an equal-parts base of both Tom Cat Gin — which is aged in new American oak barrels, just like bourbon — and apple brandy. Cinnamon syrup provides a warm spiced edge with both apple and Angostura bitters giving just enough edge to the sweet, fruity, and herbaceous notes of the base spirits.
