The Story Behind The Rum Sour
With a similar structure to the Daiquiri, the Rum Sour uses two parts rum to one part citrus — with a splash of simple syrup to balance it out. The Rum Sour, though, uses aged golden rum to impart a brûléed tropical fruit flavor that pairs well with the sunny character of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
But the biggest difference is that, since this drink is classified as a sour, it incorporates the silky texture of egg whites. Add a cherry and a lemon twist garnish, and the drink ends up tasting like a purified pineapple upside-down cake: decadent, buttery, and punchy, all in one glass.
