Drinking beer is one of America’s favorite pastimes. With its intrinsic links to baseball games and family gatherings, who better to deem the “best” beer out there than the generation that’s been consuming it for decades?
Defined as adults born between 1946 – 1964, baby boomers make up just 21 percent of the U.S. population — less than Gen X and millennials combined — but their long-standing support of the brewery industry speaks volumes — as does their preference for certain brands.
A recent poll from international research and data firm, YouGov, asked the question: What beer brands do baby boomers prefer? Respondents across the country were asked to rate popular beers and then note the “positivity” they felt towards those brands. The results were then placed in comparison with other answers to calculate an official ranking.
