Portland’s sunny weather continues Thursday with no end in sight and a building ridge of high pressure will bring in some windy conditions by Friday.
The National Weather Service says a high pressure ridge is building over the Pacific Northwest and will help keep marine clouds closer to the coast and out of Portland’s skies.
Thursday will see some early clouds in the metro area, but they should burn away quickly under the summer sun. Skies will be sunny most of the day, and the high temperature will reach near 85 degrees.
A system currently near the Gulf of Alaska will move south Friday bringing some windy conditions to the Pacific Northwest by the afternoon. Breezy northwest winds could gust up to 20-25 mph in the valleys and up to 30 mph along the coast. Portland will have calm winds in the morning, and sunny skies. The afternoon high will be about 85 degrees. Breezy winds may continue into the evening.
The weekend is looking nice with sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday and breezy conditions in the evenings. The highs will be in the mid 80s.
Forecasters are looking at a significant heat up beginning Monday with highs reaching into the upper 80s. The Fourth of July holiday may be a hot one with a very good chance of many valley locations seeing temperatures in the 90s. Winds will also continue to be a factor adding to fire concerns.
