The Portland Trail Blazers announced Thursday that guard Anfernee Simons suffered a grade 2 ankle sprain Tuesday night against the Washington Wizards and his future availability will be determined at a latter date.
Simons rolled his right ankle late in the third quarter during a 126-101 loss to the Wizards while landing on the back of Kyle Kuzma’s foot after shooting a floater.
Simons left the game and did not return. X-rays taken following the game were negative. He departed Moda Center on crutches.
While a timetable Simons’ return was not given, a grade 2 sprain is not good news for the Blazers’ guard.
Blazers forward Justise Winslow experienced the same injury on Dec. 21 and has not played since.
