Portland Trail Blazers forward Justise Winslow underwent a bone morrow aspirate concentrate procedure last week to address continued discomfort in his left ankle, the franchise announced Friday.
Winslow sprained his ankle Dec. 21 during a loss at Oklahoma City. He has not played since.
Following the All-Star break, according to the Blazers, Winslow received a second opinion and the bone marrow procedure was performed on March 10.
Winslow will be re-evaluated in the coming weeks.
The procedure Winslow underwent involved obtaining his bone marrow from an area of his body and then injecting it into the injured area in hopes that it will help accelerate the healing process.
The Blazers have sorely missed Winslow’s defense, leadership and ability to play point forward to free up Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons on offense.
In 29 games this season, Winslow has averaged 6.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
The Blazers (31-38) were 17-15 following the night Winslow injured his ankle. They’ve gone 14-23 since entering Friday night’s game against the Boston Celtics.
