Portland Trail Blazers rookie Shaedon Sharpe’s name now sits on a list beside the names of three NBA legends.
Sharpe, 19, who has become the focal point of the team since it gave up on the season, has been impressive offensively, setting or matching career-highs in scoring in four of his last five starts.
During Wednesday’s 120-80 loss at home to Sacramento, Sharpe scored 30 points with seven assists and seven rebounds.
By doing so, he became only the fourth teenager to score at least 30 points with at least seven rebounds and at least seven assists in a game.
The other three players: LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic.
James, on Nov. 29, 2003, put up 33 points with 16 rebounds and seven assists during a loss to Memphis. He also had 32 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists during a win over Portland just two days before his 19th birthday on Dec. 30, 2003. James went on to accomplish this feat again later that season (34-8-10) and one more time two days before the turned 20 the following season (40-9-7).
On April 6, 2008, near the end of Durant’s rookie season with Seattle, he scored 37 points with eight rebounds and nine assists in a win over Denver at the age of 19.
Doncic did it in back-to-back games during his rookie season. First, he had 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a win over Detroit on Jan. 25, 2019. Two days later, in a loss to Toronto, Doncic scored 35 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists. He turned 20 the following month.
Sharpe, since entering the starting lineup at Utah on March 22, is averaging 23.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 45.7% from the field and 45% on threes.
The Blazers host Sacramento on Friday.
