Fans of saisons will be excited for the release of Forest Flor, a collaboration from Upright Brewing and Nebuleus Beer. Yes, finding saisons is not as easy task these days. It’s a style that has just lost the notoriety it once had at the height of craft beer about eight or so years ago.
Fortunately two local Portland breweries that know the style very well have come together to create Forest Flor. This limited release saison will be available on Saturday, January 27 beginning at 1:00pm, exclusively at Upright Brewing in North Portland.
Forest Flor came together from two botanical blends, one each from Upright Brewing and Nebuleus Beer. The blend consists of a blend of gin barrel spruce beer from Nebuleus with a wine barrel aged version of a 2022 vintage of Flora Rustica from Upright Brewing. The Flora uses yarrow, rue, calendula and hops, so the resulting blend is described as offering a huge botanical character that sits at just 6% ABV.
Packaged in 500mL bottles and limited draft, Forest Flor will be available from 1:00 – 9:00pm on Saturday at Upright Brewing. Only 50 cases will be available and it will be on tap Saturday as well for folks to check out. Expect to see it at the Upright Brewing’s Beer Station on NE Prescott next week. Also on tap will be a special one-off keg from Nebuleus Beer called Unfuckwithable, a blend of mostly gin barrel-aged saisons with various wine grapes and stone fruit.
For the release on Saturday, Alex Ganum, owner of Upright Brewing, along with Tim Crook and Rachel Olen, founders of Nebuleus Beer, will be at Upright Brewing during the early part of the afternoon to discuss Forest Flor.
