Portland police have identified 54-year-old Robert McIlwain as the driver who died last week when his vehicle sideswiped a semi-tractor-trailer on Northeast Marine Drive.
McIlwain was killed in the crash about 8:30 p.m. Friday near Broughton Beach.
Two Multnomah County deputies saw a vehicle speeding near the 4700 block of Marine Drive and were flagged down a short time later by another driver who saw the accident and said the vehicle went off the road, according to police.
