After an eventful first day of the World Athletics Championships’ women’s heptathlon on Sunday, day two began Monday morning with the long jump.
Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium, who ended day one in the lead, retained that lead following the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 7½ inches. Thiam won the gold medal in the women’s heptathlon at both the Rio and Tokyo Olympics.
Anna Hall of the United States fell to fourth place after ending day one in third place. Hall’s distance of 20-11¾” was good for fifth in the long jump.
The next event in the heptathlon, the javelin throw, will consist of two separate groups beginning competition at 10:50 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.
