The parents of the West Sylvan Middle School student who was the victim of a vicious racist attack deserve our gratitude for sharing the story, (“After hate-based attack at Portland middle school, parents call for more awareness,” Feb. 9).
The incident perpetrated by middle school students, at school and during school hours, was a mimicking of the murder of George Floyd. This is a stark and painful reminder of the prevalence of hate-based acts.
We owe the student and his family our support in their efforts for justice.
