Oregon completed the sweep of Arizona and moved into fourth place in the Pac-12.
Drew Cowley went 3 for 5 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs to lead the Ducks in an 8-5 win over the Wildcats Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.
It was the ninth straight win for Oregon (18-7, 6-3 Pac-12), which moved into fourth in the conference ahead of next weekend’s rivalry series against Oregon State.
Sabin Ceballos continued his productive weekend with an RBI single in the first to give the Ducks an early lead. Jacob Walsh led off the second with a home run and Arizona (14-12, 3-9) got the run back via a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning.
Cowley added his first two-run blast to center to make it 4-1 in the third.
Gavin Grant led off the fifth with a double and later scored on an error and Cowley added his second two-run shot in the seventh to make it 7-1.
Nik McClaughry tripled and Chase Davis and Kiko Romero hit back-to-back home runs off Matt Dallas in the seventh for the Wildcats, who got a solo homer from Emilio Corona in the eighth to get within 7-5.
Cowley doubled in an insurance run in the top of the ninth and Josh Mollerus (1.2 innings) closed it out for his fourth save of the season.
Leo Uelman allowed a run on three hits and four walks and struck out three over 4.1 innings in a no-decision for Oregon. Austin Anderson (1.0 IP) was credited with the win for UO.
Aiden May allowed five runs on five hits, three walks and a hit batter over 5.2 innings for UA, which went just 2 for 12 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 runners.
Oregon returns home to host Portland at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
