The Portland Trail Blazers have three games remaining starting Thursday at San Antonio.
Lose out, and the Blazers would finish with the fifth-worst record in the NBA. Win even one game, and they would be in danger of losing that position.
The Blazers (33-46) have three teams directly above them in the pecking order. Indiana (34-46) and Washington (34-36) lead the Blazers by a half of a game. They both have two games remaining.
The Orlando Magic (34-45) lead the Blazers by a single game.
Portland, which upset Minnesota on Sunday and then were in position to win Tuesday at Memphis before fading, have now added Shaedon Sharpe to their injury list. He is questionable with left knee tendinopathy. He exited the Grizzlies game with about eight minutes remaining and the game tied at 101-101 and did not return. The Blazers ultimately lost 119-108.
The Blazers, given how well their G League additions have played, would certainly have a chance to win at the Spurs, who have lost eight of their last 10.
Sitting Sharpe would dramatically decrease the probability of the Blazers winning.
