Memorial Day weekend is off to a rainy start in the Portland area, with the National Weather Service issuing a rare forecast that there is 100% chance of rain.
Between a quarter-inch and half-inch of precipitation is expected by days end, weather service forecasters say.
The temperature should hover in the mid-50s all day and all evening, they forecast. The odds of rain are extremely high from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Looking ahead, Sunday is also expected to be marked by rain showers, while Monday is forecast to cloudy and cool but dry, at least after mid-morning.
When most people’s workweek resumes on Tuesday, it is forecast to be sunny with a high of around 78 degrees.
